NOW, AN EASY WAY TO HELP SUSPEND NITROFORM® POWDER BLUE®
(OR GRAY) WITHOUT MECHANICAL AGITATION

Typically, professional liquid applicators not equipped with mechanical agitation have been limited in their choice of slow release and/or low burn nitrogen sources. Inherent to liquid formulations of methylene urea or flowable urea formaldehyde fertilizers used in non-mechanical agitation systems are considerable quantities of free urea. This may adversely impact on the economics of the total nitrogen program.
Now the suspension aid, KELZAN’S, allows applicators to help suspend Nitroform.®
Powder Blue or Gray using bypass or sparge line circulation. When Nitroform® is used alone or in combination with soluble nitrogen, phosphorus or potassium, professional applicators gain both economic and argonomic advantages.

KELZAN’S SUSPENSION AID PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

KELZAN’S is a zanthan gum that is easily dispersed in cold water. Characteristic properties in fully hydrated solutions include assisting in the suspension of easily setting solids. It is compatible and stable in solutions containing high concentrations of salts as well as a variety of acids and bases.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

1. When applying 1/2 to 1 lb. of nitrogen from powdered Nitroform® (equivalent to 1.8 to 2.6 lbs. of 38-0-0) in 3 to 5 gallons of water per 1000 sq. ft., add 1 lb. of KELZAN’S per 250 gallons of water. Slowly add the KELZAN’S to the water at the edge of the circulation vortex. Allow 20 minutes of conditioning (hydration) time before adding the Nitroform.® (Solutions having a very low or very high pH, i.e., 3 or 10, will hydrate faster if a sodium hexametaphosphate water softener, e.g., Calgon, is added to the solution at the rate of 14 lb. per 1 lb. of KELZAN’S.) Add the Nitroform® slowly for more immediate uniformity as large amounts suddenly added to the tank may take longer to wet and disperse.

2. When applying less than 1/2 lb. of nitrogen from Nitroform® in 3 to 5 gallons of water per 1000 sq. ft., add 1/2 lb. KELZAN’S per 250 gallons of water (or equivalent) in the same manner described above.

The operator may find that lower concentrations of KELZAN’S than recommended can be sufficient for his particular system.
